Not quite the Blue Urban Bike program, in the Dominican there were blue bikes peppered around the resorts that could be used by staff to get from point A to B quickly. All were onesies (one speed) and had baskets attacked the back for carrying stuff.
In Calgary, the U of C is the only place that I know of that has a borrow a bike system. It was originally the U-Bike Program with it’s multi-coloured recycled bikes. I’m thinking the program was abused because it evolved to a bike sign out / in library system rather than a ride and park system.
The Zipcar community is combined version of a checkout/borrow system — except with cars. In Canada it exists in Toronto and Vancouver.
