The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic… full of ships, mystery, history, intrigue, and drama. Every generation sees tragedy, and in the last hundred plus years Halifax has seen more than its share. The next few posts will outline some stories drawn from these tragedies.
Located conveniently along the harbour walkway, the museum is fairly easy to find. If you miss the unassuming building, chances are you won’t miss The Acadia, the part of the museum that is permanently tethered to the wharf.
But for now… inside, I enjoyed popping into one of the few boat-building workshops located around the museum. These friendly chaps were very passionate about boats and will happily talk about anything ship, maritime, or museum related. Extremely knowledgeable, these volunteers are a wonderful real live addition to the museum.
