Upon leaving the Nirvana Show, the first thing I ventured upon is Muffit, Boxey’s pet daggit from the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica TV series. He was sitting rather calmly by stairs leading to the main BSG exhibit. Naturally, I had to check it out.
The exhibit contains costumes from both the 1978 and 2003 Battlestar Galactica TV shows and a comparison of the ships from each. A life sized replica of the Imperious Leader sits in the back and watches as each person wanders through the displays.
The Imperious Leader is a robot, like all Cylons, but has the least-mechanical appearance. His knobby head, rarely seen beneath his dark cowl, may be based on the features of the Cylons’ original creators, a race of alien reptiles. In the 1978 Battlestar Galactica, the Imperious Leader dies when the planet Carillion explodes. His replacement is less warlike, deciding that the victorious Cylons have little to fear from the surviving humans. — EMP Exhibit
The exhibit ends March 4, 2012.
