Give a bunch of geeks the challenge of dressing up for halloween and competing between their project teams, and look what happens. As left for the day, one group was setting up a sultan’s tent with palm trees, a hookah, and exotic rugs…
Arabian Nights
The Sultan’s tent took up a large portion of the floor — with its exotic rugs and clothes, fruit, vases, and palm trees. The sheer amount of Eastern travel accoutrements was awe-inspiring and I’m still trying to seek out the person who owns the handcrafted hookah.
Reliving the 1972 USSR vs. Canada Summit
Thought to be one of the greatest Hockey games of the 20th Century, the USSR vs. Canada game lead to the creation of the Canada Cup hockey championships and changed the face of the sport in both Russia and Europe.
In this Halloween version of the game, the Canadians reenacted the roles of Russian players, while our Russian contractors played Canadians. The big game took place in the lobby.
Wizard of Oz
Deep in the bowels of the building, in a place you could only find if you sneak in behind the cafeteria, through two oddly placed emergency exit doors, past construction, and a make-no-sense confusing left… you’ll find the magical world of Oz.
The wonderful thing about Oz is the yellow brick road leads you to a massive bowl of candy!
CBS Rappers
No one outside of work will get this one — in a vague generic nutshell CBS is a piece of software/hardware that no one wants to program wrappers for. When this team kept saying they were going to come as CBS “wrappers” I though they were all coming as candy wrappers. Duh!
Jack and Sally
Last but certainly not least are Jack and Sally — from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I think we started a movie revival around the office.
I wanted to bring Stryder in as Zero the dog but I don’t think that would have gone over well; I’m pretty sure he would have created havoc in his exuberant attempt to befriend everyone and eat everything.
