It’s Travel Photo Thursday, which coincides with Halloween. I decided to add photos from a shoot I did with la Niña in her costume (not very travel-ey but certainly photo-focused).
This year’s costume comes from Halloween City in Mountain View, CA. The theme is a sorceress. We couldn’t find all the pieces in one package so we put it together; the dress is a witch dress, the cape is a modified adult velvet cape (the kid’s ones were too flimsy). The book is from Office Depot and the wand is a movie replica of Hermione’s wand from Harry Potter, which I managed to snag when I worked for Warner Bros.
Shoot location was in Calgary and the camera used was a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. I was really unhappy with the quality of photos that came out of last year’s shoot (Canon 40D). But this year the photos exceeded all expectations.
Also, as an added bonus, la Niña wrote a poem for halloween that she wanted to share with everyone:
Halloween Poem by la Niña (Age 8)
When phantoms flood the sky
And all the leaves are always dryWhen all the monsters come out to scare
All will run everywhereWhen you look into the sky
You will see a witch passing byAnd when you look into the moon
The skeletons will start dancing soonWhen you show up at a house begging for a treat
You will greet the strangers that you meetFor that is Halloween what you’ve just seen
Happy holidays for those who need
