I moved to an A-frame on the edge of the lagoon. It is five Ringgits cheaper and it is much quieter than being in the long house with all the karaoke boys. The only problem is I have to deal with the bugs and small animals that like to come in for a visit.
There is a really neat lizard living inside the hut. It is fairly big, about 12 inches long and very interesting. As it watches me it lifts its head off the wall, twists it around and looks right at me. I studied it for a while and at one point it stuck out its tongue and licked its eyeball several times. It’s extremely colourful with lots of spots all over it’s back. It is also missing some toes on its left foot. It only has 3.
Andrew, Mari, Demur, and I all kayaked to Long Beach. Actually, Andrew and I kayaked. Demur swam and Mari was towed along behind on the kayak. It was not a pleasant ride. The ocean was rough and it was hard fighting with the currents. To get out of the lagoon took a lot of strength and patience. For every paddle forward it felt like we were being pulled back two. I felt nauseous because we were bobbing up and down so much.
In the midst of our journey a shark swam right under Demur, a shark that was much bigger than him! Mari didn’t know about this and we didn’t tell her because she probably would have freaked if she knew. As it was, she wasn’t happy about being pulled along behind the boat like shark bait, especially since it took forever to get to Long Beach.
Once we were at Long Beach we had fun throwing disk in the sand. Laying-out was perfect on the baby powder sand. We met another ultimate player from London named Neil. He was happy to see and chat with other ultimate players. After an ice cream at the Mata Hari, Demur kayaked back to D’Lagoon while the rest of us took the boat.
