Avatar Exhibit (EMP), Seattle

I have to admit, I’m probably the only person on the planet who hasn’t seen the movie Avatar. I just don’t find the “we’re an evil corporation that’s going to destroy an entire species so we can make money” plot very appealing.

That aside, the Avatar Exhibit at EMP in Seattle was pretty darn cool. The entire space is designed and built around the premise that when you step through the door, you enter the Avatar world. While inside you can look at, touch, experiment with, listen to, and become a part of materials that were used in the making of the movie. With all of these props are explanations on how the movie and Avatar world was created.

The pièce de résistance is a white screen VR stage that you walk onto and move around on to digitally become part of the Avatar world. The resulting video is small enough that you can email it to yourself.
