{"id":11461,"date":"2011-03-11T08:05:17","date_gmt":"2011-03-11T15:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wend.ca\/?p=11461"},"modified":"2020-06-20T20:08:16","modified_gmt":"2020-06-21T00:08:16","slug":"mission-san-buenaventura","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wend.ca\/?p=11461","title":{"rendered":"Mission San Buenaventura"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Founded on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1782, Mission San Buenaventura was the sixth of 21 missions and the last to be dedicated by Father Junipero Serra (the statue is seen in the photo below).<\/p>\n<p>It has seen more of its share of drama over the years: earthquakes, a tidal wave, and an almost attack by a pirate in 1818.<\/p>\n<p>The gardens of  Mission San Buenaventura have been well-tended over the centuries. Even the vegetation has a story or two associated with them. The original roof tiles were replaced with shingles after the earthquake of 1857. Because of this, the building still has it&#8217;s original floors, walls and ceiling.
