This house was built in 1683 is a good example of an old colonial building. On the door is a rooster standing on a rock, or the <em>Cock of Galle<\/em> that is also seen on the Old Fort Entrance. The whole cock thing is a play on words: the word <em>Gala \/ Galle<\/em> in Sinhalese means <em>Cock<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the original Dutch ovens exist, but are not used because this building is currently used as a commercial office. Rumour has it that the building is to be converted into a luxury hotel.<\/p>\n<p>It is common knowledge amongst locals and travellers that the house is haunted by the ghost of a young woman was killed after being betrayed by her Dutch lover.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-summary\">\nOpposite the Dutch Church is the Old Dutch Government House.
