The man accredited for importing the Sardinian donkey to the US (Robert Green) was once quoted saying, <em>&#8220;Miniature Donkeys possess the affectionate nature of a Newfoundland, the resignation of a cow, the durability of a mule, the courage of a tiger, and the intellectual capability only slightly inferior to man\u2019s.&#8221;<\/em> [Source][link removed]. Stories of the donkey&#8217;s strong, loyal temperament are peppered throughout literature, most notably throughout Christian literature.<\/p>\n<p>The little Sardinian breed pictured above is now facing extinction.
