(Waterpark Adventures, Part 1)<\/em><\/p>\n

Finally a sunny day! It was the first Saturday of July and it had the beginnings of a nice day. Dare we hope? Has summer finally come to Vancouver? After months of gloom, drizzle, and no sun, the sight of that bright shiny thing in the sky was both shocking and exciting at the same time.<\/p>\n

To celebrate, we decided to do a waterpark tour of the city… we picked three parks that were all within biking distance of our apartment and ventured out to check them out. The first: Second Beach Waterpark. <\/p>\n

This is a city-run pool with a water slide (not in photos), shallow area, random fibreglass animals to play on, and a beautiful view of the ocean. To get here we had to bike a couple of kilometres along the sea wall (La Ni\u00f1a<\/em>‘s first long bike… congratulate her). It’s $6 to get in, with lockers available for a 25c.<\/p>\n

We hopped on our bikes and pedalled towards the pool with our heads full of hope and excitement… it’s the first waterpark of the day,<\/em> La Ni\u00f1a<\/em> said, and I’m really excited.<\/em> <\/p>\n

In reality, the experience was… ummmmm<\/em>… rather disappointing<\/em>. The deck was dirty and a gigantic cement wasteland. The slides and fun areas were all closed. When we attempted to ask when or even if<\/em> they would open, the lady at the front said, I dunno, ask the lifeguard.<\/em> We would have, but we couldn’t find one. <\/p>\n

The only thing really entertaining about this pool was watching crows drink out of a water fountain. <\/p>\n

In the end, we stayed here for all of the 20-minutes before getting on our bikes and moving on to the next park.<\/p>\n

La Ni\u00f1a<\/em>‘s perspective (typed by her): It was so-so. The slides weren’t open. The only side [of the pool] that was open was the baby side and I’m not a baby. It was too cold but was a bit warmer than the other parks [the water]. This was my least favourite park. I wouldn’t like to go back.<\/em><\/p>\n
