‘Tis a day full of pranks and strange ideas. I spent the day trying to determine if my emails were fake or real. Some were really good and full of technical jargon and reasonable logic; I’ll wait until tomorrow to see if they’re real or not. <\/p>\n

Others were ridiculous (because changes in web security will force the internet to move away from Javascript and resurrect flash as the primary web development tool).<\/p>\n

Then there’s the truly demented: putting a human head in a jar inside a fridge<\/a>. Creative.<\/p>\n

There is one prank that wasn’t. <\/p>\n

Some of you may remember this: 10-years ago Google sent out its first invitation-only beta release email to friends and family. Almost a year later it publicly launched one of it’s defining products: Gmail. Some thought the first email was a joke… but it wasn’t, and here we are 10-years later still using the product that redefined the world of email.<\/p>\n

I was lucky enough to be at Google for the 10th-anniversary party. Enjoy a brief glimpse inside the “Big G”.<\/p>\n
