{"id":85532,"date":"2019-02-01T21:31:43","date_gmt":"2019-02-02T02:31:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wend.ca\/?p=85532"},"modified":"2020-03-15T13:30:59","modified_gmt":"2020-03-15T17:30:59","slug":"a-little-village-with-blue-rocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wend.ca\/?p=85532","title":{"rendered":"A little village with blue rocks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tourists visiting Nova Scotia LOVE to make a beeline for Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site (and home to the Bluenose II); however, drive for about 6-minutes along the eastern windswept Atlantic coast and you&#8217;ll find a small, peaceful village that&#8217;s worth a detour.  <\/p>\n<p>The little community of Blue Rocks is advertised as &#8220;Lunenburg&#8217;s answer to Peggy&#8217;s Cove.&#8221; But unlike Peggy&#8217;s Cove, Blue Rocks is not overrun by tourists, boats, and buses. I&#8217;m not sure that buses could even navigate the winding, crumbling dirt roads and hairpin turns around centuries-old buildings. The area is named after the blue slate rocks that line the edge of the ocean. These Cambrian-Ordovician rocks (once sedimentary) have been compressed into metamorphic rocks by the movement of tectonic plates.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, the fish shacks in this area are some of the
