When asking people around the Bangalore office (and who have been in Bangalore) where to eat, almost always the first thing people list off is “go to Sethji for parathas.” “Try the salt lasse” is generally the second thing that people recommend — though this is prefaced with a “once you’re used to India,” meaning don’t drink until you’re stomach has adjusted.
That said, one of the first things I’ll seek out after arrival is curd or lasses for the opposite reason. I’m of the mind that you might as well just drink the water and get it all over with in one big swoop and aren’t surprised when you least expect it… but I digress.
Sethji is found outside the walls of the diamond district, across Airport Road, down a hot, dry, and dusty street, and in a little house labelled “art gallery and home made food.” It’s not much of a gallery but the parathas and lasses are both fantastic and home cooked… you can even say hello to the family relaxing in the bedroom on your way in.
