I just finished a Ruth Rendall murder mystery that brought back memories of Brighton and our own sojourn to the South of England. Upon further digging I discovered that there are some out there who consider Brighton the murder capital of England. This may have been more true during Victorian times when the North Laine (pictured below) was known for its poverty, crime, and plethora of slaughterhouses (though now it’s a bohemian open market).
