When the cathedral is open, you can spend about half an hour and wind up your way up to the top with a few hundred of your closest friends. It’s free and are few steps — to make it somewhat easy for everyone to make it to the top.
Some of the best views are from the windows that you pass on your way to the bell tower– and pausing at these windows gives you a moments reprieve from the hordes of frustrated and angry people.
The views are fantastic, but patience and a sense of humour are definitely needed once you get to the top; line ups form at each window — for those patient enough to wait. We saw lots of fighting and shoving around those who thought they could get away with pushing children and elderly out of the way.
